The proper time to look for and hire the minister or officiant for your wedding ceremony is 8-12 months prior to your wedding date (or as soon as you've selected the venue where your ceremony will take place). If you wait until closer to the wedding date, you most likely will find that all the ministers and officiants you contact will be booked and will not have your date available. Without a minister or officiant present on the wedding day to legally perform the ceremony and sign the marriage license, your wedding will turn into nothing more than a big, expensive party! And you definitely do not want that to happen! So hire your minister or officiant while you're in the early stages of your wedding planning.
Weddings On Wheels® does not require any of our couples to have premarital counseling prior to having one of our ministers/officiants perform their wedding ceremony. We do, however, include a Marriage Starter Kit in every wedding ceremony package. The kit contains (among other things), two identical questionnaires which the Bride and Groom may complete separately and then compare their answers. If, after comparing their responses to the questions, the couple feels they may need premarital counseling to resolve any "issues," Weddings On Wheels can either provide Biblical premarital counseling to the couple, or refer them to a secular counselor. In either case, it is solely up to the couple whether or not they want to attend such counseling.
Our officiants are mobile and will perform your wedding ceremony at any location you desire. We've performed wedding ceremonies at catering facilities, chapels, parks, on boats, the beach and in couples' homes and backyards. We serve NJ, PA, DE, NY, MD and Washington, D.C.
Fees vary, as we offer many different wedding and civil union ceremony packages, from the basic pre-written ceremony to a fully customized ceremony which you help create. To request a price quote for a particular package, click here and complete our contact form with the requested information.
Our customized wedding ceremonies may be worded exactly as you like. If you choose one of our pre-written ceremonies, minor editing or changes may be made at no extra charge. If major revisions are requested, these will be charged an additional, appropriate fee, depending on how extensive the changes. If you desire a special type of ceremony, it is usually more cost-effective for you to book one of our customized ceremony packages rather than choosing a pre-written ceremony and requesting extensive revisions.
Our customized wedding ceremonies can incorporate any special vows you want. The pre-written ceremonies contain standard wedding vows which may be revised or changed for an additional fee.
No. However, if you wish to include a unity candle in your ceremony, both the candles and the candle holders must be supplied by the couple. The same applies if you wish to give flowers to the mothers or to each other. The flowers are to be provided by the couple or their florist.
We welcome your input into the selection of music for your wedding ceremony. Since it is your special day, you should have music which is meaningful to you. We encourage you to choose whatever music suits your tastes (classical, rock, jazz, etc.) as an accompaniment to your processional, recessional or as background music for a candle lighting, wine ceremony or flower presentation. If you need assistance, Rev. Debbie, who is a trained vocalist and musician, would be absolutely delighted to make wedding music suggestions. And all of our officiants are skilled at working with either your DJ or any type of live musicians you may hire to perform at your wedding, to ensure a seamless blending of ceremony and music.
Weddings on Wheels® wants you to have the best possible photos and videos of your wedding ceremony. All of our officiants are very photo and video friendly. We have no restrictions on the use of flash, spotlights or the positioning of the photographers/videographers during the wedding ceremony.
We have no restrictions whatsoever on ceremony attire. We've performed numerous themed weddings and Halloween weddings at which both the guests and the bride & groom were in costumes. Our offiiciants are also open to wearing attire or costumes suited to your theme.
Yes! Weddings On Wheels® would be honored to unite you and your life partner under the recently enacted NJ Civil Union Law. Please click here for a listing of our packages and services for your "special day."
Same-sex couples do not need to reside in NJ in order to have a legal NJ civil union. We've already performed civil union ceremonies for couples residing in PA, LA and FL who traveled to NJ just so they could legally affirm their relationship in at least one state in the U.S.! They understood that they wouldn't have any of the rights in their state that were afforded to same-sex couples residing in NJ. However, it was important for these couples just to have a piece of paper stating that their relationship was recognized and sanctioned somewhere in our country.
Weddings On Wheels® welcomes couples who may be religiously or culturally diverse. We can blend a variety of religious and ethnic traditions into a very beautiful and meaningful wedding ceremony, performed by a single officiant, which will satisfy all. And we can do this for a fee which will be lower than hiring two different clergy persons to officiate at the same ceremony!
